Assessment Task:

The sport, health and football industries are major contributors to national income and prosperity. The sport health and football industries represent a profitable business in the United Kingdom. Therefore, you have been asked to write a report based on either a sport, health or football organisation, facility or event of your choice. This report is to be written for the Department of Digital, Culture Media and Sport (DCMS) to explain and analyse the current scale and economic importance of your organisation, facility or event to help drive growth, enrich lives and promote an active Nation.

You have been advised that the report should address the following, key elements:

Part A- Describe the nature and structure of either the sport, health or football industry

This will require you to define and discuss the different components of either the sport, health or football industry. You are expected, within this section, to outline the structure of the sport, health or football industry, paying attention to the different Governmental bodies involved in the sport, health or football industry; the public, private and voluntary sectors involved, and the difference between the sport, health or football industry at a local and national level. This section should conclude with a definition of scale and economy, and a brief discussion of the scale and economic importance of either the sport, health or football industry. 

Part B- Explore the trends of one organisation, facility or event in the sport, health or football industry within the UK

Using one case study aligned to either the sport, health or football industry, you must assess the growth in participation, employment, and financial turnover and illustrate the scale and economic importance the sport, health or football organisation, facility or event (you have chosen) has on the relevant industry. This should be considered over a period of time to illustrate how the case study has grown and become more/ less influential (e.g. how has it been affected by external social, political, economic factors).

Examples of the one organisation, facility or event you could explore include those from the private, public and voluntary sector. For example: Manchester United, Wembley National Stadium, Sports Direct, The Gym Group, Kick It Out, Football Supporter’s Federation, The All England Lawn and Tennis Club, London Marathon, London Olympic Stadium, David Lloyd, Gym Shark, Active Nation or Horizons.
