You should produce a 3,000 – word report (+ relevant appendices as appropriate), outlining the following areas as a minimum

1. The key concepts of enterprise, entrepreneurship and innovation

Identify and discuss

• the motivations and behavioural characteristics that reflect the ‘norms’ of ‘typical’ entrepreneurial behaviour-sets
• the influences and barriers that entrepreneurs face when considering  a start-up business idea
• the methods/models that an entrepreneur may use to research and evaluate their business idea before entering the market, including identification of their unique differences that may give a competitive edge

2. Local, regional and national sources of business start-up support

Discuss and review local business support agencies for entrepreneurs, which could include;

• Solent Futures’,
• Enterprise Programme,
• Start Your Own Business (SYOB) Southampton
• Enterprise Connections,
• Federation of Small Business (FSB)
• Enterprise First (Virgin)

3. The advantages and disadvantages of the ‘life-world’ of the entrepreneur

Identify and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the ‘life-world’ of the entrepreneur (e.g. loneliness, pressurised, responsibility etc)

4. Identify problems of enterprise practice and implement enterprising solutions and develop intrapreneurship skills

Conduct appropriate research to identify problems of enterprise practice, then, based on the theory, insights and observations that you have derived from this module, you should identify 2-3 recommendations to ensure sustainability and develop/enhance entrepreneurial culture in today’s fast-moving and competitive environment.
