• Decide on the Country you want to base your assignment topic from.
• Locate and select ONE law anywhere globally.

The Selection Filters

Choose your law, IF it encompasses all of the following:

• Originates from a Country
• Anywhere around the globe
• NOT a State, Province, City or local law.
• Must be in effect today.
• The law must affect both people AND corporations.

The Report

Research and report:

• What the law is about – provide a brief description.
• Country of origin
• HISTORY
  • Briefly summarize how such a law was passed ( list the process – steps & timeline)
  • Dates; When proposed / when passed / latest revision

ENFORCEMENT

• How is the law enforced?
• What is the potential & actual ramifications of breaking the law?
• If it is NOT enforced, why not.

EFFECTIVENESS

• Do you believe the law is effective?
• Example ‐ is IT generating the results it was intended to generate and/or the results needed.
• If YES – Outline through your research and reasoning of the facts, how you reached your conclusion.
• If NO ‐ Outline through your research and reasoning of the facts, how you reached your conclusion.
• What changes are necessary to make the law more effective (If this is a possible solution?)

ALTERNATIVES

• Is there an alternative to the legal approach in obtaining the same or similar results?
• Research alternative approaches and summarize the progress to date.
• Do NOT list other laws as an alternative ‐ find alternatives to laws!
